One of the most beautiful stories of long-standing devotion to Ičići, its people, and the sea comes from Germany – Mrs. Mechthild Heil and her family have been faithfully spending their summers in this Kvarner town for 45 years.
Their first holiday in Croatia dates back to 1974, when Mechthild and her husband visited the then Preluk campsite for the first time. Just a few years later, in 1980, they discovered Ičići – a place that soon became their second home. Since then, with the exception of a short break in 1998 when they stayed in Matulji, the Heils have not missed a single summer in Kvarner.
In Ičići, they are welcomed by their longtime host and now close friend, Mrs. Tanja Sobotinčić Gašparić. The Heils were among the first guests in her apartments, and over time, their acquaintance blossomed into a sincere and lasting friendship.T
he love for Ičići has been passed down to new generations – today, the third generation of the Heil family spends their summers here, often in the company of friends. The family also has a boat moored in the ACI marina, and over the years they have explored the entire riviera and the wider Kvarner region in great detail.
These days, Mrs. Heil has once again arrived in Ičići, and on this occasion, the Ičići Tourist Board marked this important anniversary for the second time this year – celebrating 45 years of visits from their German guests, this time through the story of the Heil family.As a token of appreciation for their long-standing loyalty and love for the town, the Ičići Tourist Board presented Mrs. Heil with a commemorative gift. The emotional gathering was filled with warm words, gratitude, and smiles – just as one would expect from such a special story.
